Test Ride Frequently Asked Questions

Test Ride Requirements at a Glance

All test ride participants must meet the following requirements before heading out:

  • Age 25 or older
  • Minimum 2 years of active riding experience
  • Valid motorcycle license
  • Valid motorcycle insurance in your name
  • Helmet

Test rides are available on select bikes only. Not every model in our inventory is eligible. Contact our team before your visit to confirm which bikes are currently available to ride.

The requirements above exist to keep the experience safe for everyone. If you have questions about your specific situation before making the trip, the best step is to call (936) 271-7600 or text (936) 271-7600 or (713) 804-4696 and have a direct conversation with our team. We’d rather talk it through with you ahead of time than have you make the drive for nothing.

What to Expect When You Arrive

Test rides at Woodlands Premium Motorcycles are straightforward. Here’s how the process typically works:

  • Walk in or call ahead – no reservation required, but a quick call can confirm your target bike is available and ready.
  • Check in with our team – we’ll verify your license, insurance, and confirm you meet the eligibility requirements.
  • Review the bike – our team will walk you through the model, controls, and anything specific to that motorcycle before you ride.
  • Complete a brief ride – you’ll get enough seat time to get a real feel for the bike, not just a loop around the lot.
  • Talk it through – after the ride, our team can answer questions, compare models, or discuss next steps at whatever pace works for you.

There’s no pressure to buy. Test rides are informational – they exist to help you make the right decision, whatever that turns out to be.

Brands Available to Test Ride at Our Shenandoah Showroom

Woodlands Premium Motorcycles carries three franchise brands, each with a distinct riding experience worth feeling firsthand:

BMW Motorrad
BMW Motorrad riders often want to feel the electronics, the weight balance, the suspension, and the riding modes before committing to a GS, an adventure tourer, or a roadster. A test ride is one of the most effective ways to understand what separates a BMW from other motorcycles on paper. Select models are available for test rides. Contact us to confirm current availability.

Indian Motorcycle
Indian Motorcycle buyers frequently ask about comfort, wind protection, seat height, and the feel of a bagger or cruiser on the open road. Getting time in the saddle on a Scout, a Chief, or a touring model answers questions that a spec sheet simply can’t. Test ride availability varies by model. Ask our team what’s currently eligible.

Royal Enfield
Royal Enfield is one of the most approachable brands in our lineup – and one of the most rewarding to ride for the first time. The classic models and adventure-ready lineup offer a riding experience that connects you to what motorcycling actually feels like, without unnecessary complexity. Test ride eligibility varies by model.

Pre-Owned Motorcycles
Test ride eligibility on pre-owned inventory depends on the specific unit, its condition, and current availability. Contact our team with the year, make, model, or stock number you’re interested in and we’ll confirm whether a test ride is possible.

Who We Welcome for Test Rides

Our test ride program is designed for licensed, experienced riders who want to make a more confident buying decision. We regularly work with:

  • Experienced riders switching brands – if you’ve ridden one brand for years and you’re curious how a BMW Motorrad, Indian, or Royal Enfield compares in the saddle, a test ride is the clearest answer.
  • Riders returning after time away – if it’s been a few years since you’ve been on a bike, a test ride is a practical and low-pressure way to reacquaint yourself before committing to a purchase.
  • Riders deciding between two models – sometimes you know you want a motorcycle but you’re not sure which one fits you better. We can work through options and, where eligible bikes are available, let you ride both.
  • Out-of-area buyers considering a remote purchase – if you’re purchasing from outside the Houston area and can make the trip to Shenandoah, a test ride before a remote transaction is always encouraged. Our team can also help coordinate delivery after your purchase.
  • New riders joining the community – if you’re working toward your license or just getting started, you may not be eligible for a test ride yet – but you are absolutely welcome here. Our team is happy to walk you through the lineup, talk through which bikes make sense for your experience level, and connect you with our New Rider Program. The riding community starts before the first test ride, and we’re glad to be part of that journey.

All test ride participants must meet the eligibility requirements listed above. If you’re a newer rider still working toward your license and experience, see the New Rider Program section at the bottom of this page.

What to Bring for Your Test Ride

To complete your test ride without delays, bring the following with you:

  • A valid motorcycle license (not a learner’s permit)
  • Proof of motorcycle insurance in your name
  • A helmet in good condition

Riding gear beyond a helmet – jacket, gloves, boots – is always encouraged for your own protection and comfort. Our team will walk you through a brief form before you head out. The process is quick and straightforward.

Do I need a reservation to test ride?

No. Walk-ins are welcome five days a week during regular business hours. If you want to confirm a specific bike is available and ready before making the trip, a quick call or text ahead of time is always a good idea, but it is not required.

Is there a fee to test ride?

No. Test rides at Woodlands Premium Motorcycles are free of charge.

Can I test ride any motorcycle on the floor?

Not every bike in our inventory is available for a test ride. Eligibility depends on the model, its current condition, and other factors. Contact our team before your visit and we’ll let you know which bikes are available to ride that day.

Do I need my own motorcycle insurance to test ride?

Yes. Valid motorcycle insurance in your name is required before any test ride. If you do not currently carry motorcycle insurance, contact your insurance provider before your visit.

What days are test rides available?

Test rides are available Tuesday through Saturday during regular business hours:

  • Tuesday – Friday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Saturday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Sunday & Monday: Closed

If you want to confirm a specific bike is available before you make the trip, call (936) 271-7600 or text (936) 271-7600 or (713) 804-4696 and we’ll give you a straight answer.

I’m a newer rider – can I still test ride?

Test rides require a minimum of 2 years of active riding experience and a valid motorcycle license. If you are new to riding or still working toward your license, we’d encourage you to explore our New Rider Program first. Getting proper training before you purchase is the right call – for your safety and your confidence on the road.

If you’re not sure whether your experience level qualifies, call (936) 271-7600 or text (936) 271-7600 or (713) 804-4696 before you visit. Our team is happy to have that conversation with you directly – it’s always better to ask ahead than to make the trip and find out at the door.

Once you have your license and some real-world riding behind you, we’ll be here.
